Polyester Testnet is live
Sign up for Polyester Testnet, claim your first Paper Assets, and explore the exchange before mainnet. Here is what to expect from your first session.
Polyester Testnet is now live! Sign up, collect free daily Paper Assets, and start trading on the exchange. You can also deposit assets from supported blockchain test networks to see how Polyester and Zipper work together to support native cross-chain deposits and withdrawals.
We built Polyester to bring assets from different chains into one exchange, with the tools and familiarity of a dedicated trading platform. Testnet is your first opportunity to put that experience to use before mainnet. It also gives us a way to gather feedback from our community and continue improving the platform.
Testnet only supports Paper Assets and native testnet assets. It does not accept real money or mainnet assets.
Start with an account
Sign up for Polyester Testnet. You can continue with Google or email, or use an existing wallet through MetaMask, Rabby, Phantom, or WalletConnect. Google and email sign-in create an embedded wallet for you, so you can get started without setting up a separate wallet first.
Choose the sign-in method you will use to return to your account.
Once your account is created, the onboarding flow introduces the exchange and helps you finish setting up. You will choose a username from the suggested options, with the option to re-roll for more choices.
Choose a username during onboarding.
The testnet welcome screen then introduces what you can try: spot trading, order triggers, transfers, deposits, and withdrawals. Follow the prompts to finish onboarding and reach your first reward.
Welcome to Polyester Testnet.
Your sign-in method controls access to your account. Return with the same Google account, email address, or wallet. The account creation guide explains each option, and the security guide covers passkeys, authenticator apps, and recovery.
Your first Paper Assets
Paper Assets give you funds to explore the exchange with. Connect your X and Discord accounts to become eligible, then select Claim in the daily reward prompt. You can also use Claim reward in the navigation bar.
The first day's reward gives each user roughly $1,000 worth of Paper Bitcoin and 1,000 Paper USDT. These are practice balances with no real monetary value. They give you both sides of the BTC/USDT market to start with: Paper USDT to buy Bitcoin, and Paper Bitcoin to sell.
Claim your daily Paper Assets to begin trading.
New rewards unlock for everyone together each day. The release time can change, so follow the countdown in the app for the next release. It is a shared release, rather than a timer that starts when you claim. Check the current reward in the app when you return.
Claimed assets are transferred immediately into your Trading Account, ready to trade.
Trade on an active order book
Open Trade and choose a spot market. On BTC/USDT, select Buy to spend Paper USDT on Paper Bitcoin, or Sell to exchange Paper Bitcoin for Paper USDT. A market order trades against available orders on the book. A limit order lets you choose your price and waits until it can match.
Professional market-making firms are providing liquidity on the Paper Asset markets. Their buy and sell orders help create an active market in which you can experience placing orders, getting fills, and managing balances. We want testnet to feel close to using an exchange in real-world conditions while keeping the funds used for trading entirely within the test environment.
The trading screen brings your chart, order book, order form, open orders, and balances into one workspace. You can arrange it around the way you trade, then explore the same spot-trading tools intended for mainnet, including take-profit and stop-loss orders, trailing stops, and execution tools such as TWAP and Ladder orders.
If you are new to order-book trading, the first trade guide walks through order placement and checking a fill. The trading screen guide explains the workspace and its controls.
Two types of assets, two ways to test
When you open Deposit, you will see two tabs that are specific to testnet: Paper Assets and Testnet Assets. They serve different purposes.
Paper Assets
Paper Assets are ERC-20 tokens minted by Polyester on Ethereum Sepolia, Ethereum's test network. They have no supply limit, so we can mint as many as needed to distribute daily rewards to users and give market makers ample assets to provide trading liquidity on Polyester.
These are the assets you receive from the daily claim and use in the paper markets. A Paper BTC balance is a practice asset created by Polyester; it is separate from BTC issued on Bitcoin's own test network.
Paper Assets are created by Polyester for rewards and paper trading.
Testnet Assets
Testnet Assets originate on the supported blockchains' own test networks. Examples include Bitcoin Testnet, Bitcoin Cash Testnet, and Litecoin Testnet. You may see symbols such as tBTC and tBCH in the asset selector.
Many of these assets are mined on proof-of-work networks, including Bitcoin Testnet. We do not control their supply and cannot mint them on demand, so they are not part of the daily reward. To try these networks, obtain assets from a faucet, a service that sends small amounts of testnet assets to your wallet.
Testnet Assets come from the source networks themselves.
The Testnet Faucets guide lists supported networks and places to obtain their assets. Both types of assets are for testing. Only use the matching test network when making a testnet deposit.
Try a native deposit and withdrawal
Depositing a source-chain testnet asset lets you try Zipper, the technology that connects external chains to Polyester. This exercises the actual integration with that network, from the transaction in your external wallet to the balance appearing in Polyester.
Once you have an asset in a compatible testnet wallet, open Deposit, choose Testnet Assets, and select the asset and its network. Polyester will show the deposit address for your account, together with the minimum amount, fee, and estimated time.
An example tBCH deposit. Use the address shown in your own account, not the one in this screenshot.
For example, select tBCH on Bitcoin Cash Testnet and send it from your Bitcoin Cash testnet wallet to your Polyester deposit address. You can also enter your Polyester deposit address into a Bitcoin Cash testnet faucet to have tBCH sent directly to the exchange. Follow its progress until the deposit is credited. The deposit guide explains the flow and how to read its status.
You can test the return journey too. Open Withdraw, choose an available asset and a supported test network, and enter a compatible external wallet address and amount. Review the details, confirm the request, and follow it through to the destination wallet. The withdrawal guide covers each stage.
Community events and real prizes
During testnet, we will introduce giveaways, trading competitions, and community promotions with real money prizes. These prizes are separate from the Paper Assets used to trade on testnet.
Stay involved and watch for updates from the team for event announcements, prize details, and how to take part!
